Joshua O'Kain, M.A., M.Ed., BCBA has been working with children since 2003. He currently holds a M.A. in Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago and an M.Ed. in Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University. He began his marching career as a brass player and transitioned into colorguard member. Joshua performed with Middle Tennessee State University Wind Ensemble (French Horn), and the Marching Band of Blue, The Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, Eklipse Winter Guard (Hopkinsville/Nashville, TN), Chimeras Winter Guard (Nashville, TN), and Phantom Regiment Winter Guard (Rockford, IL).
Joshua began teaching bands & color guards in 2003, consulting with nationally-competitive bands and winter guards across Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. While finishing his first graduate degree, Joshua was the Director of Colorguards for the Lincoln Way East High School Marching Band. During his four years with the LWE Band, the team was recognized as the Illinois State Marching Band Champion on 3 occasions and was a consistent finalist at Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana Bands of America regionals and a Semi-Finalist at Grand Nationals. The winter guard programs at Lincoln Way consistently medaled in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit championships and in 2010, the winter guard became the Winter Guard International Scholastic A Silver Medalists. Joshua has also consulted for other WGI finalists and competitive BOA programs across the states of Pennsylvania, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas, and Hawai'i including Mililani High School (HI), Wylie East High School (TX), Northwest High School (TX), Elizabethtown Independent A Winter Guard (KY), Eklipse Independent Open Winterguard (KY,TN), Cedar Ridge High School (TX) and Lake Travis High School (TX) and Oakland HS (TN). He also has been an instructor of Drum Corps International groups including Southwind (KY) and Blue Stars (WI).
Outside of the marching arts, Joshua is a Licensed, Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Special Education teacher. Joshua has experiences in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis in both the education of all students, as well as the clinical treatment of individuals with autism. Joshua has worked in multiple settings including clinic-based, school-based, and home-based intervention services with children and young adults with a wide range of needs.
In addition to the Brand Manager responsibilities, Joshua is also the Director of Colorguards at Lake Travis High School in Austin, TX and continues his clinical work with children with autism
