Founded as a consignment shop for color guard in 2000, Guard Closet has grown to include winter guard, band, percussion, and other performing arts. Additionally, we offer custom designs and predesigned costumes, flags, floors, formal wear, etc. in addition to full or partial show writing, educational programming, and other show support services.

Sustainability and Community

Guard Closet was founded on the principle that used color guard equipment was both needed and readily available in marching band, indoor guard, drum, and bugle corps activities. The performance art community just needed a way to get connected, so we opened our closet to allow easy and safe trade. This way, you can make money, save money, and help reduce our art's impact on the environment.

Our mission at Guard Closet is to get teams show ready by providing an avenue to sell lightly used show items to recoup material costs, offering quick and affordable guard costume and other consignment options, custom costume design services, and show writing, choreography and drill writing, show cleaning, and more. We are your personal Guard and Band show assistants.

Meet the Team

Jeremy Williams

General Manager, CEO

Jeremy is a graduate of West Chester University and a former member of the Field of View World Class Color Guard. He went on to work on large parades and events. After many years of selling costumes, flags, and accessories he decided to expand his reach. Jeremy and his husband Chris purchased Guard Closet in hopes of bringing together a place where all groups, regardless of budget, can have amazing products.

Guard Closet continues to bring great consignment items to the groups that need it. Guard Closet has also been expanding into new product offerings including custom costume design, formal wear, show design, choreography and drilling writing, educational programming, and more.

Christine Ream has been an employee of Guard Closet for over 10 years and currently serves as the Consignment Manager. She has been involved in the marching arts for over 25 years. She has performed in the Penn State Blue Band and the Westshoremen Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps.

Christine has worked as a marching and music instructor for several different high schools in central Pennsylvania and has worked as a music and visual adjudicator for marching band and indoor competitions. Christine also worked with Brian Prato (the founder of Guard Closet) on the operations and promotional teams for the US Army All-American Marching Band.

She holds a B.S. in Music Education from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College. Jackie Brown has been a color guard performer, instructor, designer, judge, and clinician for over 20 years. She founded the Spintronix Color Guard non-profit organization with the mission to bring free and low-cost educational resources to color guard students, instructors, and programs all over the world. 

Jackie's most notable achievements include performing in the 2016 Olympic Games Ceremonies in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, managing the most-subscribed color guard channel on YouTube. She published the first-ever beginning color guard instructor manual and a color guard practice journal which are available through the Spintronix website or on Amazon: 90 Days of Color Guard Practice Journal and Spinstructor Training Manual - Level 1. Additionally, Jackie has been working on a color guard fiction series under a pen name and has two books from the series available - Spinsation: Learning to Breathe and Spinsation: One More Beginning. As a classroom teacher, she was named district teacher of the year in 2019 and McDonald's Outstanding Educator in 2020.

Chris Green has been heavily involved in the pageantry and performing arts for 30 years. He has been a founder, director, instructor, adjudicator, composer in residence, performer, arranger, and clinician for marching, concert and jazz bands, choral and theater groups, drum and bugle corps, and winter percussion and winter guards across the country. Chris is currently the Artistic Director for the Central Florida Sounds of Freedom and Founder and Performer for Brass Hysteria STP.

André Williams is an artist born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. Starting as a young percussionist, André became fascinated with the world of performance.

André was the first male member of Warren Central World Guard in 2010-2011 before attending DePauw University's School for Theatre, studying concert dance and tanztheater. During his studies, he founded and directed the first student led dance company on campus and conceptualized three main stage productions. He marched for Madison Scouts in 2013, while working with several schools in the midwest.

After graduating, André returned to Indianapolis and danced for Phoenix Rising Dance Company and Studios, serving as Executive Assistant, Rehearsal Director, and Resident Choreographer before founding his dance company, Relevations. André is currently the Guard Director and Visual Coordinator for the Mt. Vernon Color Guard and Band of Marauders, and Artistic Director and Movement Coordinator for Elevate Performing Arts Independent World Guard. He also is a member of the visual staff at Phantom Regiment, Guard Co-caption Head for Legends Drum and Bugle Corps, and Movement Technician and Choreographer for Fishers Scholastic World Guard.

Michael Lombo has been passionate about the marching arts for the past 25 (gulp) years! Michael lives for his students and loves instilling the same passion for pageantry arts that he has, as well as the life skills needed to be a positive team player. 

He’s a successful drill designer, consultant, and Color Guard Captain at Jersey Surf World Class Drum & Bugle Corps as well as multiple schools in Massachusetts including Mansfield High School, Norwood High School, and Dedham High School. Michael can help you with all of your color guard and marching band needs!

Erika Plez

Choreographer

Erika Plez, born in Norfolk, Virginia, started her marching arts career with jazz and ballet dance. In the 8th grade, she moved to New Jersey where she found her passion for color guard. Erika went to Washington Township High School in Sewell, New Jersey and began her color guard career by joining the Township Marching Band and the Township Mirage Indoor Guard. She was also a member at Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps from 2011-2016. While in college, she marched AMP Open Independent Guard in 2017 and AMP World Guard in 2018 and 2019.

Erika graduated from Wesley College with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Criminal Justice and currently holds a position on the Future Leaders of WGI board to help promote diversity and inclusion in the marching arts. Erika currently lives in Dover, DE, working as a Facility Liaison at Modivcare as well as a Color Guard Director for Unionville High School and AMP World Winter Guard. Erika's passion for teaching has lead her to teach at numerous schools and independent guards along the east coast. Aligning with her passion for color guard, Erika has her own color guard channel called "Color Guard With Plezzz" on Youtube and is also featured on "Beyond The Color" on Styleplus.TV on YouTube as well.

Erika has a strong passion for volunteer work and wishes to help people in all communities become a better version of themselves. She is the Director of Volunteer Services for the HER PROJECT in Dover, DE.

Carlos M. Alicea Quiñones, from Puerto Rico, began his performance art career during middle school while studying music from 2009-2015 at the Fine Arts School Ernesto Ramos Antonini in Yauco, PR and graduated with a specialization in music and saxophone from both middle school and high school.

Carlos marched with Music City Drum & Bugle Corps in 2018-2019 and he is the first Puerto Rican to age out in Drum Corps International. He has performed in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California in 2019 and in Disneyland, while representing Puerto Rico. Currently, Carlos is a color guard instructor and choreographer for several guards in Puerto Rico. He has been creating color guard clinics in Puerto Rico since 2018 and started the first winter guard in Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico Royalty.
