MEET ETHAN
Ethan is a visual artist currently in residence as Creative Director and Independent Stylist at Color Crush Beauty Bar in Longview Texas! He grew up sensitive, artistic, and frankly, with a sparkle that polite society around Texas would later coin as “Sassy.”
He was in the Color Guard in High School, where the style was transitioning from the local Military style to a more worldly group. With the opportunity to help design the costumes, alongside the higher budget our performances garnered, it was his intro into designing performance wear for the pageantry arts.
His whole life is an aesthetically driven experience fueled by storytelling, and by being able to tell a story within the design lines, textures, colors, and movement of his art. He have been Sewing, Painting, Crafting, rhinestoning, all since a tender age when his summertime escapes to my Grandmother’s home in Appalachia meant that someone was there to let him be himself, and to let him create art in whatever form that meant.
His art deepened after he graduated school and moved away to pursue a degree in Fashion, the sudden upheaval of the systems of support and of familiarity left him with not much else but time. He used that time to get in touch with his art, and that manifested itself with a classical and romantic repetoire of paintings that utilize the same symbolism that Inspires him from varied sources.
From the ethereal fairytales of old, to modern concept shows, to raw and esoteric displays of staged brutality, Ethan uses timeless and legible elements in order to bring your show to life. With his background in garment construction, his visual mind has developed the ability to see a 3D object laid out flat, like putting together a sewing pattern, but in reverse! Ethan's roots in the art form help him know exactly how your pieces need to look from every angle.
Ethan has been working in collaboration with StylePlus and Guard Closet designing show wear, flags, enhancements, and custom prop covers since 2021.
