Guard Closet is thrilled to welcome Nicole Younger as our new Brand Manager! With a rich background in the marching arts and a passion for supporting educators, Nicole brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team.
A Journey Through the Marching Arts
Nicole hails from Virginia and has worn many hats in her career—clinician, designer, technician, and visual instructor. Her journey spans across the East Coast, Midwest, and Texas, working with scholastic and independent guards, marching bands, drum corps, and indoor drumlines.
In the late 1990s, Nicole's journey began with Revelation Winterguard, an independent A Class winter guard in Richmond, VA. Her love for the sport ignited during her first season, and by 1999, she was marching with the Patriots Drum Corps in Rochester, NY, where they clinched a DCI Division II gold medal. Nicole continued her passion with the World Class Patriots Winterguard from 2000 to 2003 and later competed in DCA with the Rochester Crusaders and Empire Statesmen.
A Passion for Teaching and Leadership
Since the early 2000s, Nicole has been dedicated to teaching and inspiring students across the United States. Her teaching journey includes states like New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Mississippi, Iowa, Missouri, and Kentucky. She discovered her love for teaching at the Mid Atlantic Marching Band camp in Virginia.
Nicole is not just an educator but a leader in the community. She founded The Cookout, is a Council Member of Our Marching Counts, and serves on the WGI Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Additionally, she hosts the podcast "On A Waterbreak," where she shares her insights and experiences in the marching arts.
A New Chapter with Guard Closet
Currently residing in Cincinnati, OH, Nicole enjoys attending theater performances and live music shows. She is a strong advocate for mental health and encourages everyone to prioritize their well-being.
This summer, Nicole joins the colorguard staff at The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps for the first time. She is excited to bring her expertise and passion to Guard Closet, where she will assist educators in obtaining everything they need to succeed throughout the season.
Looking Forward
Nicole's diverse experience and dedication to the marching arts make her a perfect fit for Guard Closet. Her enthusiasm for supporting educators and her advocacy for mental health align with our values and mission. We are excited to see the positive impact she will have on our community.
